The Marist College Fashion Department announced that the 30th Silver Needle Fashion Show will be held on Friday, May 6, 2016. The event will be held at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie, New York, which is about five minutes from the college. The Silver Needle Fashion Show showcases the capsule collections of the junior and senior fashion design majors in the Fashion Department. There are will be two shows, one in the afternoon and one at night, that host an audience of on average 2100 people. Tickets will be available online before the show, as well as in the Marist Fashion Department with discounted student prices.
Each year, the Fashion Department and the Fashion Show Production course directs and produces the show. Completely student-run with professor advisors, the Silver Needle Fashion Show is run by various committees that allow students to have real world runway production experience. All facets of the show are produced by students, such as the invitations, model casting, choreography, and public relations. Marist students are also asked to volunteer as model dressers and ushers, which allows for the whole school community to become involved.
